Canadian Heritage Experience

Journey The Bloodvein River

Experience the true north for yourself

The Bloodvein, a stunning rugged, wild river, spans over 270 km from the headwaters in northwestern Ontario's Woodland Caribou Provincial Park to its confluence with Lake Winnipeg in northern Manitoba. It continues to be one of the top wilderness canoe routes Ontario has to offer.

The landscape of the Canadian Shield, woven with bracing rapids and enchanting waterfalls, provides the perfect backdrop for one of the world's most exciting canoe trips. Journey for 10 days, travelling a designated Canadian Heritage River that's been home to the Ojibway people for thousands of years.

This experience was created to immerse you in the culture and heritage of the fur trade, and the aboriginal people who fuelled the engine of what was once the driving industry of western North America. When the fur trade declined, the search for gold drove hundreds to the river in a quest for riches that continues to this day.

This package captures the true essence of the Canadian canoe culture. Along the journey, you'll visit 8 distinct First Nations pictograph sites, as well as witness the iconic Canadian Moose in the most natural of settings. Known for its stellar campsites and wide, sweeping vistas, the Bloodvein embodies the very definition of a wilderness canoe trip.
